Banks Road
The first time we visited Banks Road they were going through a transition. A new tasting room was being built and the not very old cellar door was being turned into a restaurant . Our experience was so good that we had to visit again once the restaurant had opened so that we could dine at ‘Bistro at Banks’. The French bistro fare was excellent! The service professional and the decor perfectly matched the setting.
Will the winemaker and his wife were a fantastic, interesting couple who chatted to us as they showcased their range of wines, which were all very solid across the board. We started with an excellent Sauvignon Blanc, then followed it up with a Pinot Gris and a Pinot Grigio. It was great to compare these two different styles side by side. The excellent range of wines continued with a smooth Pinot Noir, a Cabernet and a Shiraz that all made the tastebuds sing.
The grounds have numerous pieces of artwork/sculptures scattered around and a sunken oval just below the cellar door is perfect for a throw of the frisbee or for the kids to have a kick of the footy. Banks Road has all you could want and hope for, for a winery experience destination and we have no problems in recommending this great gem of a find.
