Campbells Wines
“Totally professional run cellar door”. That is how I would describe Campbells. The wine tasting list is extensive and for a region that is known for its fortified’s and reds, in particular Durif, this cellar door is a beacon for those who feel they may have been short changed in the white wine department.
As I began my tasting a little bowl of grissini and some cheese was placed in front of me to help freshen my palate throughout the tasting. (Really nice touch) With the help of my gracious host I began with a beautiful Trebbiano (Italian style white wine) . The surprise of the day, considering the region we were in, was finding the best value Gewurztraminer I have ever come across. The journey continued through the list with expert advice given of what wine I should try next, which included the fabled Bobbie Burns Shiraz, the Barkly Durif and a back vintage of the Barkly Durif.
Though I mostly had one gentleman look after me two other staff assisted throughout my tasting experience and they were all very good. Apart from some excellent fortified’s Campbells offers punters to buy Muscat in bulk so that you can top up that oak barrel at home. A selection of cheese, charcuterie and more, as they like to put in can be purchased to make up a hamper. I believe there is a self guided tour you can do of the winery, so ask about it. As well there is also a Behind the scenes winery tour every Friday at 11am.

We had a great time from start to finish and it was kicked off with the nice touch of grissini and cheese placed in front of us as we began our tasting. Staff were fantastic! We just expected good fortified wines but found some excellent white and red wines. Would recommend this place to anyone who is visiting the region

Campells is a large producer of quality wines in the region. When we attended the cellar door, it wasnt busy so had the full attention of the winemaker. Campells have an extensive wine list, with many acres under vine around the region. If you are a wine buff, you wont be disappointed and even as novice wine tasters, we learnt (and enjoyed!) a lot from the experience. No cafe/restaurant.
