Granite Hills Winery
This cellar door has had a little make over since our last visit and looks better for it. A good selection of wine with about ten wines available for tasting under two labels, Granite Hills and the second being Nardoo.
Granite Hills makes one of my favourite Rieslings and tasting it here again it did not disappoint. A pioneer of the region this winery has some of the oldest vines of the Macedon Ranges and this shows in the quality of their wines. The cellar door sits on top of a hill but on this cold winters day we were less concerned with the view and more worried about warming the soul with some of their great reds. We tried all the reds (as well as their Sparkling and other whites) and were not disappointed whether it was the Pinot, Cabernet blend or the straight Shiraz.
