Stanton and Killeen Wines

Something that many of you would not know, is that some Rutherglen wineries offer Bulk fortified wine. Here at Stanton and Killeen you can buy several different styles in bulk and the containers to carry them either in a 5lt or 23lt. Apart from bathe in it, you may be wondering what the hell you are going to do with 23lt of fortified wine. Well. Stanton and Killeen have thought of that and here you can purchase your own mini oak barrel complete with brass tap so that you or a group of friends can develop your own blend in the barrel. Ask the friendly staff the best way to go about it, but I reckon leaving some in the barrel each year so that it slowly ages after the barrel has had some of the strong oak characteristics dissipate then you are onto a good thing.
Of course there is much more to Stanton and Killeen, like the classy Cabernet and the Durif but fortifieds are the bread and butter for this winery and with close to twenty different fortified wines all you need is some good goats cheese and you are set. Outside, tables and chairs are scattered in the garden or along the shed for a more rustic feel.
